Community Outreach Center Internship (Summer 2016 & Fall 2016)

The Community Outreach Center is the center of volunteer service on the campus of Kutztown University. They are currently seeking Professional Writing majors for summer 2016 and fall 2016.

The candidate must have strong writing and editing skills and an interest in Professional Writing and Public Relations. Poster design and website (KUnited) experience a plus.

Responsibilities include writing and editing content for the center's brochures, social media sites, and the website; and writing news articles, press releases, and advertisements. This includes items for the Daily Brief and Bear Essentials. Other duties of related areas are possible, depending on the skill set and interest of the selected intern.

Major Summer Project: In addition to the above, the summer intern will have major responsibility for the development and editing of an employee handbook and a volunteer handbook for America Reads.

Major Fall Project: In addition to the above, the fall intern will have major respons
ibility for the development of and editing of both a volunteer handbook and a Graduate Assistant Handbook.

American Association for the Advancement of Science Minority Science Writers Internship (Summer 2016)

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Pitts Family Foundation offers a summer internship program for minority students interested in journalism as a career and who want to learn about science writing.

Berks +Catalyst: Writers Wanted

Berks +Catalyst is an online magazine in need of citizen journalists to write about and highlight the positive people, places, and events in Berks County. Writers could interview a prominent member of the community, visit a historic site, or delve into an important current issue relevant to the area. Topics will be assigned by the editor but suggestions will be welcome.
