GLBTQ Resource Center Internship (Fall 2013)

The Kutztown University GLBTQ Resource Center is seeking a creative, compassionate, and detail-oriented individual to serve as a writing intern for the Fall 2013 semester. The writing intern will be responsible for generating content for the Daily Brief and Bear Essentials newsletters, designing and creating event posters, editing and proofreading copy, and writing other miscellaneous documents, including letters and press releases. The intern will also work closely with Allies and other center employees, as well as serve as a resource to center visitors.

GLBTQ Resource Center Mission

Established February 3, 2005, KU’s GLBTQ Resource Center seeks to be the regional center for resources which create and support environments whereby the gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, inter-sex and questioning students, faculty, administrators, staff, and alumni have access, inclusion, recognition, equality and respect in all facets of higher education.

1.) Provide a safe network and to advocate for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning (GLBTQ) and Allies who are students, staff or faculty of Kutztown University.

2.) Educate students, staff and faculty of Kutztown University about discrimination and the oppression of GLBTQ individuals.

3.) Increase awareness and acceptance of GLBTQ persons and issues and to create and insure cooperation and unity among the Kutztown University community.

Women's Center Internship (Fall 2013)

The Kutztown University Women’s Center seeks a creative, understanding, and detail-oriented individual to serve as a writing intern for Fall 2013. The writer will be involved in designing and writing the campus Potty Papers, posters, advertisements, and various administrative duties, as well as editing and proofreading copy. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign is encouraged but not required. The writing intern will also support all programs and serve as a resource to visitors of the center.

Women’s Center Mission Statement

The Kutztown University Women's Center is part of Kutztown University Academic & Student Affairs and works with KU Health and Wellness Services, University Counseling and Psychological Services, the PASSHE Women's Consortium, the Women's & Gender Studies Minor program and the Commission on the Status of Women to plan programming related to women's and gender issues.

The Center's staff attempts to increase awareness of gender concerns within the Kutztown University community. It organizes residence hall programs, candlelight vigils, flyers, speakers and panel discussions.

The Women's Center works with community and national organizations and interacts with other university Women's Centers. The Center has a library of books, periodicals and videos available to the public.

Phone calls and visits from individuals seeking advice, information, or direction are handled in an understanding and confidential manner. Referrals are made to university and community agencies.

KU University Relations Web Writing Internship (Summer 2013)

Kutztown University's Office of University Relations seeks a web content writer for Summer 2013. The writer will be heavily involved in the university's website redesign effort, working with the University Relations web team to update and rewrite existing content, and create, edit, and proofread new content.
