This will be a 6-credit internship. The successful applicant will work a minimum of 20 hours a week and will have experience and expertise in strategic communication and social media. She or he will be able to leverage the program’s existing social media accounts and develop a presence for the KUPW program on additional social media channels.
This internship is unpaid.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain relevant social media
- Develop innovative and creative media content across social media platforms
- Collaborate with Professional Writing faculty to ensure a cohesive social media identity
- Propose creative strategy in collaboration with site supervisor
- Set up daily tasks and activity for all social media outlets
- Keep track of social media trends and competition
- Develop a file of future social media postings through Hootsuite to ensure a consistent social media presence
- Deliver weekly reports with statistics and results for each account
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with New Media
- Willingness and ability to make creative suggestions in the interest of KUPW
- Excellent written communication skills with emphasis on proofreading and grammar
- Self-starter
- Organized
- Punctual, professional, and reliable
- Passion for strategic communication, public relations, and social media
- Understanding of the KUPW program
- Successful completion of WRI 216 (Writing for Public Relations) and/or WRI 321 (Information Design)
