Philadelphia City Paper Movies & Social Media Intern (Fall 2012)

Philadelphia City Paper is searching for ambitious, dedicated, creative, weird writers who want to make an impact at Philadelphia's premier alternative publication.

We are currently looking for a Movies and Social-Media Intern for the Fall 2012 semester. This unpaid internship requires a familiarity with our most-used social-media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and an interest/experience in film and film-reviewing. Primary responsibilities include keeping up with weekly repertory film listings, writing regular movie reviews for the paper and our A&E blog, Critical Mass, and assisting in updating our social-media feeds. Interns typically put in anywhere from 10 to 20 hours per week (scheduling is flexible).

To be considered, copy the below text, fill it out and email it to Josh Middleton, at josh.middleton[at]citypaper[dot]net by Wed., Sept. 12. Have fun with it!

1. Everybody’s got that one insane story they tell at every party. Tell us yours in 125 to 150 words. If you haven’t racked up anything you feel is appropriately epic, just tell us something funny that happened this one time. This is a judgment-free zone.

2. Answer each of these in whatever amount of words you think is necessary (but keep it short, people!)
  • What’s your name?
  • What’s the Philly connection?
  • Where do/did you go to school?
  • What is/was your major?
  • What do you love writing about?
  • Do you have any particular areas of expertise?
  • What’s your social-media experience?
  • When/if you go out, what do you do? Where do you go?
3. Pick ONE name from each column and tell us in 125 to 150 words why you like or dislike the artist or movie. Be as specific as possible, and there are no right answers — this isn’t about whether your tastes and ours match up, it’s about how well you can express yourself (and entertain us).
