TITLE: Publications Associate
REPORTS TO: Director of Communications
SCOPE: Full-time, year-round, in Aspen, Colorado
Three or more years’ work experience. Work on publications, preferably in the arts, writing and/or editing and/or production; great attention to detail in proofreading and production; familiarity with word processing and layout computer programs; ability to meet multiple deadlines with grace; knowledge of and enjoyment of classical music preferable; excellent interpersonal skills; a marketing and “arts advocate” sensibility, strong team spirit, cheerful and positive attitude.
The Publications Associate oversees all of the Festival’s printed marketing pieces, including the Season Preview and Calendar, the School Catalog, the Festival Focus summer newspaper insert, and many smaller schedules, postcards, flyers, brochures, posters, and reports. The PA works with the Director on copywriting and then works directly with the graphic designer, printer, and mail house to produce and distribute each piece. Production includes finding photos, artwork, and graphics, copywriting, working with designer on layout, circulating drafts to all departments, integrating changes, and overseeing final proofs, printing, and mailing.
This employee works integrally with a strong, 5-person marketing and public relations team. Every member of the department works with the others on integrated promotional efforts. Together the department’s goal is to enhance the international reputation of the institution, communicate beautifully with patrons at all levels, and ensure the success of each event presented.
Other duties include assisting with courting and servicing a limited number of corporate sponsorships and spearheading research efforts such as surveying audiences.
